Whatsapp photo of the last days. Today out of nowhere the request of the photo was understood. It had to get a HmH treatment. I am satisfied first of all. Maybe some tiny additions to the painting in the future still.
The title sounds a bit ironic, but it is almost something like a sociological concept of the present. Bobos is a neologism composed of two concepts: Bourgeois and Bohemian. At first he meant the modern upper class, but I don’t understand it in this almost class-struggle sense, but rather as an attitude to life of uncertain duration. This feeling is fed by certain circumstances in life, such as :arriving at jobs that have a future perspective, such as IT, culture, event management, new food, media, design, etc.). This gives them a certain radius of action and allows them to use play areas that were not available in student life before, nor will they be available in life with children later on. They invest a lot of their life time in networking with people in comparable life situations that make professional moves possible. They are interested in their career, but at the same time have the idea of a successful Life/Work Balance. BoBos, one could say, are in a phase of life that existed before., too. But today it generally lasts much longer and formed a culture. And not a few get stuck in it, because the temptation that emanates from its possibilities is great for you. The egocentrism that makes it possible is addictive. And the addict doesn’t want out, he wants more.
P.S. There is an Austrian feature film (“Wer hat uns bloß so ruiniert?”/”Who could have ruined us so much? “) that records the upheavals that four befriended couples are going through in Vienna today at the end of the BoBo phase of their lives. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work as a film. The slang of the city people makes many conversations incomprehensible to the normal listener, but at the same time the city as culture, as addiction, as image is criminally embezzled in the film. But have a look at this movie, it has it’s moments…
