The story of a chance encounter between two outcasts in the true sense of the word. Both had sought refuge in a restaurant for the evening. He was busy with his cloudy thoughts and she had nothing better to do than to watch him again and again. But he doesn’t notice anything the whole time. Then the evening is over, the last guests leave the restaurant and make their way home. Only the two protagonists remain undecided. A conversation emerges from the first short remarks and they decide to stay together until morning, because there are still so many stories – and because stories, truly told, can develop the power to dissolve and expel the shadows of the past
Shadows (…another full moon night) (lyrics: HmH)
it’s late the diner doors were shut/ stood freezing in the cold/ had spent my time with a bottle of wine/ and my misery untold/ a taxi cab was passing by/ for moments I got blind/ a match was struck, I heard a scratch/ the sound came from behind/ a shadow, oh a shadow
I looked over to the other side/ I saw her standing there/ by a cigarette her face glowed red/ in a frame of copper hair/ any plans for the time to come/a sirenic joined my odyssee/ is it me you’re waiting for? she said/she came right next to me/ out of the shadow, oh the shadow
Bridge: two people and a winter’s night/ so cold, so cold so goddam cold/ with a need for sympathy and for a small eternity/ reaching out for arms to hold
Chorus: let’s get out of the shadows/ let’s step into the light/ let the light of truth and the rays of love/join the silvery moon tonight/ she spoke low you have seen the moon?/ yeah, it’s another full moon night/ I’m afraid I will not fall asleep/ same for me, honey, I replied
she went further, my dear stranger/ I’ve been watching you tonight / a fog of sorrow covered your face/ and your smile seemed broke not tight/ in the shadow, oh the shadow
you really ask for answers?/ I don’t know where to start/ but tomorrow I will leave this town/ and the one who broke my heart/ till then no obligations/ we share the stories we may tell/ but at dawn I’Lll be gone for the station/ and you may stay or quit as well / this town, these streets and shadows/ oh the shadows
